History lives on in Modesto.
We forget the past so quickly … yet the past is what helps shape the future. This photo has a past, and it even has names associated with it. Here’s the note I was given by Janet Lancaster of the McHenry Museum when researching the Murray and Jones Building, Est. 1913. The note read …
Today, in the place where people enjoyed perhaps their first soda from a Soda Fountain is Picasso’s Gourmet Deli and Art Gallery. Owner Jordy Camps has been at the corner of 10th and J Street for more than 20 years.
If you look at the photo again, do you see the door in the top right of the photo? That door is in the same place as it was when this photo was taken.
Stop by and see Jordy Camps … he makes the absolute best hot and cold sandwiches … and the artwork that surrounds you will delight you! You might even ask him if he would consider putting in a Soda Fountain.
